FAQ'S

WHY DO I NEED A NURSE HEALTH AND WELLNESS COACH?

A nurse is a trained and licensed professional who can educate you on what to expect and not to expect with your newborn baby. A nurse can assess you and your baby's health. I can offer you and your family support with anxiety provoking situations, along with medical knowledge, and education on topics you need more clarity on. I'm very clear on where my boundaries are as a professional and will always work with your medical team if necessary and with your consent.  A nurse can't diagnose or prescribe treatment.  A nurse can help you determine when you should go see your provider.

***Remember in an emergency situation ALWAYS call 911 first!

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER A NURSE POSTPARTUM VISIT?

As of now, my clients pay for their care directly (via Paypal, credit card, or cash) or are given the care as a gift from a family member or friend. In some cases, insurance companies do reimburse you for this care, so each family should contact their insurance company to see if they are covered. While I do not provide third-party billing, I would be more than happy to provide invoices for my service to you, so you may get the benefit of your insurance should they cover postpartum nurse visit care and education.

IF I HAVE FAMILY NEAR DO I STILL NEED A NURSE HEALTH AND WELLNESS COACH?

Parents can always welcome the help that their own family and friends want to provide. However, family members who are not up to date on the latest research on various issues related to birth, infant feeding, and the postpartum period may give outdated advice.  There are times when conflicting advice from well meaning family members often leave new parents confused and not sure of the decisions they now have to make. As a licensed and trained nurse and professional, I am able to provide the resources needed for families to find the answer to questions, and answers that will best support their family’s needs. I am also trained in breastfeeding support and can assist in preventing problems before they arise.

HOW DO I GET STARTED IN WORKING TOGETHER?

I offer an in-home consultation where we can discuss your wishes and vision for postpartum care. During our consultation, we will thoroughly discuss your needs, baby’s needs, and your parenting preferences. My main focus is always to nurture the family with particular attention to the mother and her newborn.

Our hours can be scheduled at your liking. And if we agree to work together you will sign an agreement based on the package of service you choose.

HOW LONG WILL WE WORK TOGETHER FOR?

We can talk about what is most important to you and the needs of you and your family. I generally work with families anywhere from 2-6 weeks unless the family desires to extend their time or when there are extraordinary circumstances (twins, difficult birth, c-section, single parent, etc).

WHAT LOCATIONS DO YOU TRAVEL TO?

Services are provided in the capital district area of NY State. More specifically, a 50 mile radius from Schenectady NY.
